13 reasons why Internet explorer rules workplaces!
A recent survey reveals that most enterprises still love to flaunt Internet Explorer as their default browser. Most of the security updates in the organization are for IE as well. Major reasons which could be attributed to this are:
- It is bundled with Microsoft windows.
- Most Microsoft office applications work better with IE
- Outlook Webaccess works better with Internet explorer
- Microsoft sharepoint services work with Internet explorer
- Its easier to put in admin policies for a non-open source browser
- Other software used in the organization are dependent on Internet explorer
- It gets updated with the windows updater
- Its “Microsoft” Internet Explorer.
- The admin does not know about Firefox or Chrome
- There is so much you can do with Internet explorer
- There are no Macs which run Safari or Firefox
- Users have trouble learning to use any browser other than IE
- The IT policy says so.
Let us know what you think in the comments..Should IE be the browser of choice in organizations?
1.) IE is INTEGRATED in windows.
2.) IE is INTEGRATED in windows anyway. You can't remove it anyway.
3.) IE is INTEGRATED in windows anyway. You can't remove it anyway.
4.) IE is INTEGRATED in windows anyway. You can't remove it anyway.
5.) Not true. In open source software, admins can control anything they want and more because they can edit the code all they need. Proprietary software like IE isn't able to.
6.) Only very few. And IE is integrated anyway.
7.) Of course it does. Only new versions forced upon you get updated however.
8.) It's “Micro$uck” Idiot's Explorer
9.) Most admins are smart and they know about them.
10.) There is so much you can do with Firefox and Chrome because they aren't proprietary – you can change basically anything YOU want to change. It's your choice with free software.
11.) Macs come with Safari, stupid. And Mozilla supports Apple and lets Mac users download Firefox for the Mac. The same is true with Google Chrome. Do you know anything?
12.) No, Google Chrome is very sleek and simple, whilst IE has too many over-sized toolbars
13.) The “IT policy” is different for each workstation.
14.) You really don't know what you're doing.
By the way, I'm talking to (about) the people who say this stuff. not you.
