The Indiblogger’s meet

Yesterday I was down with a terrible headache and I had the reminder on my mobile for the blogger’s meet at 4. I decided to hurry up and leave with just 10 minutes on my watch. Got stuck at the Doraiswamy subway for about 15 minutes. Somehow managed to reach the venue 15 minutes late. But then, no parking space..I poked my car into the only space available..little realizing that it was a ditch..I tried pulling it back…but it was too late…

I decided to ditch my ditched car and go onto the meet. The meet started quite late and it was great fun, especially since I managed to sit in the 2nd row with a few fun people which offered a conducive atmosphere to comment upon others (lol, haven’t done that in a long time now…all right..no offence please…)

The intro by the indiblogger’s team was followed by many members introducing themselves and their blogs. That was pretty cool now that I have more interesting blogs to read during my idle hours :) The session was interrupted for tea (and snacks of course…) It was more of an ice breaking session with everyone interacting and getting to know each other..There was a great presentation on mobile blogging by Kumar from the sacrificial altar (http://atthealtar.blogspot.com/), followed by a humourous play from Rebelz http://www.rebelz.in/ This was followed by a play by the Indiblogger team and a presentation on Microsoft live writer by Sandhya…We had a group foto taken (do give me the link to the picture plz…)

And last but not least thanks to all those dear dear souls who helped me put my car back on solid ground (video link plz) from the deep valleys of despair dug by Chennai corporation…

This was a quick blog on the event. Do check out my blogbuddy’s posts @

Sorry kumar, Blogspot is blocked @ office, couldn’t comment on your post in the morning..will do it when I go home…;) Do give me the missing links..

A supernaturally damaging weekend…

I am not superstitious, but I do believe in one thing, whenever I do something which I do against my family’s wishes…my car takes a hit..this is not the first time, but then I’ve never had two consecutive hits till date..

On saturday, I decided not to tell anyone and go and get some computer games to play…because of my propensity to get addicted to them, my family is not too excited on my gaming endeavours…I ended up tearing apart my rear tyre…then changing it in the blazing hot soon…

On sunday, I was supposed to run a few errands, which I missed out…because I had to go to the Blogger’s meet…and I parked my car. But, straight into a ditch…as of now, I haven’t really inspected the damage. but should be getting an evaluation done by the end of the day…updates on that will follow…lets hope everything is fine…but then the tyre has to be changed…

Chartered accountants can now advertise

Here is something ground breaking about my profession that I am forced to blog upon…A member of the institute of chartered accountants of India can advertise his professional services and he would not be held guilty of misconduct. This would open wide avenues in the line of individual marketing and advertising strategies.

Just imagine your Tax consultant who has a logo which says “we make tax less taxing” or something like that. Pretty impressive. The council’s decision is going to go a long way in making CAs improve their marketing skills. Although certain purists might raise objections as to the ethics of the decision, I would think that in this age of consumerism, nothing can survive unless they are protected by the customer and this is no exception in the case of Service providers as well.

The train ride

I quote my twitter post which I made in the morning today

Apple really can change lives, I left my car at office and took the train back home, just bcos I couldn’t stop listening to music on my ipod”

It was late at night when I left office, just because I wanted to escape rush hour traffic. The traffic gets terrible in the peak evening hours, especially at places where I enter the city limits. Exponential growth of vehicle population, poor infrastructure support, road construction sites which obstruct traffic all put together make the traffic even worse than it would have been. I was about to get into my car, when I realized I could take the train home. So then, I went over to the nearby station to aboard the suburban transit train. Waited for around 25 minutes for the train to arrive, really empty because it was around 8 and since it is one of the first stations on the path. I made myself comfortable, listening to music sitting near the window..a suburban train...similar to the one I took...

There was nothing I could see outside so I had to satisfy myself with the scenery inside the train. A few others from my office were in train as well (although, I didn’t know any of them…) There was a young boy returning from his college (most probably..) Few men who looked like they worked as accounting clerks in manufacturing companies (no offence…) and few young men who were loiterining around..The trip took around 1 hour as compared to 2 hours if I had driven home…

I got down at my station and walked home, listening to music looking at the lovely dark skies with twinkling stars above me..These are the small moments in life which make it worth living…

When I was sitting in the morning sitting in the hot train with the scorching heat so unbearable..and was sweating profusely…I missed my car so much…

Maruti Swift Dzire

The maruti swift dzire is here..The latest version of the swift (the erstwhile esteem) is here in India.

The maruti swift dzire is here..The latest version of the swift (the erstwhile esteem) is here in India. I haven’t seen many on the roads, but happened to come across the demo car and found that it really looks spacious and big..The boot has been designed in such a precise way that it doesn’t become a misfit on the swift..

I would only complain about two aspects..One, there is nothing but the grille to differentiate the dzire from the swift when looked at from the front..Two, I personally am not too impressed with the name of the car…

10,000 B.C.

Now what shall I blog about now? I have already made another blog for the day…Hmmm…I want to blog about the ego states in psychology…but then I guess most people know that and I really don’t need to post about it…Someday, if I really feel like it; I might post on that…

For now, I”ll post about something…Well, I watched 10,000 B.C. on saturday…

The plot goes on something like this: Primitive mankind (boy meets girl, girl kidnapped and enslaved by a bit more modern civilization, boy chases them (makes an army of tribes on his way) and whether he wins her back forms the rest of the boring story…

The actors were pretty boring themselves (it was very apparent that they were in the movie only for the money) The hero wasn’t even one bit heroic…The heroine was too ice cold to show emotion…The others simply were there…Yeah, I loved the tiger which was CG-rendered; but then it was there only for 3 scenes or so…Well, the very fact that I haven’t blogged about it for 2 days says how drab the movie was…It was a lengthy, boring, unrealistic, bad, illogical, bad, dreary movie (I guess I ran out of negative adjectives…) The wooly mammoths were too unrealistic (I have seen computer games with better rendered graphics) The editing was terrible..I guess the director did get lost every now and then…The pyramids were so lame (I really don’t know why the graphics weren’t better than they actually were…The worst part was the climax (how can they blatantly lift off a scene from “300″?) 300 was one of my favourite movies and I guess even if you sat at home and rented the 300 dvd, it would prove to be a better experience…

Here is another blog post which said the same thing…If you liked the movie and thought this post was crap; do comment on this one..I really want to know the positive side of 10,000.

Calvin & Hobbes II

The creator of Calvin & Hobbes Bill Watterson really needs mention for his insistence that cartoon strips should stand on their own as an art form, and he has resisted the use of Calvin and Hobbes in merchandising of any sort (if not for the design of a perfect cartoon strip)

This explains why I find it really difficult to get calvin and hobbes merchandise…Just imagine the millions he chose to lose rather than commercialize his work. I love that sort of dedication to his interest. Calvin and hobbes remains more than just a cartoon strip after all.

I really wanted another post on Calvin & Hobbes which explains this post…

Here are a few links worth checking out:

I could probably list a billion more…but then, I guess you guys have google anyway to do that for you so I’ll stop with that….
