Open destination

After much deliberation, I’ve decided to make thunderror.com a much more open blog for me to post onto. An open destination for all that I blog perhaps. All this while I have only always tried to post only technology related topics on here and I’ve noticed that I blog lesser and lesser about technology around here and my posts at postedbits.com were more popular anyway. I decided that get back to posting at thunderror.com and give my original blog the attention it deserves.

Technology is a topic worthy of being blogged about. But then, I think its not really a great idea to constrain a blog to a single topic unless of course I’m aiming at a targeted audience, Ad- based revenue or intend to become a master tech-blogger! Here are four reasons why I don’t think I shouldn’t be blogging about technology alone.

This decision to open up thunderror.com to topics other than technology should result in

  1. Newer categories. For now, I have introduced 2 more categories > General & Humor. You will find them on the categories menu on the main page.
  2. A wider audience. Technology blogs are everywhere. Every geek is out there creating a technology blog, but what about someone who doesn’t care for the most latest gadget or the latest product from Google?
  3. This blog getting updated more frequently. I’m not really too sure of this, but well if this doesn’t work; I guess nothing will.
  4. The blog feels a bit more human. I intend to smoothen out the steel cold technology edge that it has had all this time.
  5. I still intend to write about technology out here. But then those posts would be
  6. A lot more tags on my tag cloud!

I’m still not sure if I intend to use my posterous to autopost to this blog. But I guess I’ll make sure this post is on it for sure.

How I got back to blogging? A few site updates

Twitter has been lately stealing more time than usual and that leaves me with no time to blog at all. I resolved to renew my interest in my blogging and decided to give the site a few much needed updates. Site updates are a great way to de-addict yourself from twitter and get back to blogging. Give it a try.

Theme changes

Thunderror.com now runs on the dark HemingwayEx theme which is in complete contrast with the earlier light and plain Grid focus magazine theme. The New theme also introduces the new top sliding navigation bar and is completely widget aware allowing the use of powerful wordpress widgets over the site. The new theme has been configured to display only post excerpts instead of complete posts to keep the interface minimal and easy to navigate.

New pages
A few new pages have been added to the site. A page for twitter, a page for readers to contact me directly and a subscribe to RSS page has been introduced. The “subscribe to” and twitter pages provide a background on RSS and twitter for easy use.

Tweetboard

Thunderror.com now integrates twitter’s conversations on the website using the power of Tweetboard. Visitors to the site who use IE might have trouble accessing this feature, considering that tweetboard is still in early Alpha. Update: 9 Jul 09, Removed Tweetboard. I would now be using more of friendfeed and less of twitter.

Disqus commenting system

The WordPress comment system has been replaced with the disqus comment system. Disqus allows visitors to establish their commenting identity through twitter or facebook and allows for easy administration and use of blog post comments. Thanks to @akula and @disqus for the help.

The new beginning

The story behind this website is that, one fine morning…My buddy Sathyanarain wanted to know why I had to have 3 blogs…That made me think of getting my own domain name and here it is.

and as usual, here is my hello world post with a quote from “The Matrix”

I don’t know the future. I didn’t come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell you how it’s going to begin. I’m going to hang up this phone post this blog, and then I’m going to show these people what you don’t want them to see. I’m going to show them a world without you. A world without rules and controls, without borders or boundaries. A world where anything is possible. Where we go from there is a choice I leave to you.

So….Welcome to thunderror.com

Thanks to mom (for helping me become what I am today) and to my darling wife (for being with me even when I wasn’t the one I am today) and to all my dear friends who stood by me always….*alright, I didn’t steal those lines from an academy awards nite speech…
