Thanks for writing about Titanium!

I’ll agree about Titanium not getting enough buzz, and we’re working on that. But let’s remember that Titanium is a very young project, so many people are still reluctant to write heavily about it. After all, the current release is only the second preview release. And while many people are writing about it, most of the posts are more of introductory articles because there hasn’t been a lot of experimentation with the platform yet.

But like I said, we’re working on that. Part of the problem is the lack of contributors to the project, especially those who could work as platform evangelists, so we’re constantly on the lookout for more contributors. The Dev Team is hard at work at polishing and fixing the platform, and they could only do so much in terms of writing and evangelism, so it’s really up to the community to do the evangelism work.

There are a few things in store for the next few months that would certainly boost Titanium’s exposure, and we’re really excited about that. It might not be so apparent, but the community is growing daily and we’re getting people from other open source projects–like Bespin and Cappucino–excited about Titanium as well.

As for your points, I’d like to answer the first two, since I already address the last two above:

1. The product’s name is actually Appcelerator Titanium. We just regularly refer to it as Titanium. You could say that using “Titanium” as a brand name is “average branding” in as much as you could say “Air” is “bad branding.” After all, isn’t air much common that titanium?

2. Like I said, the project is still too young, so a Wikipedia page at this point is still a mile ahead. We’ll probably write one in the future, but right now, it’ll just be too soon.

In any case, thanks for writing about Titanium. We’re really excited about this project, and we hope that developers will see just how much Titanium will help in leveraging their skillset.
